Raku wallpieces and Pastel on Paper by Melvyn Malkin
Acrylic on Canvas by Mystery Man

Opening: Friday, 2nd March, 6.00pm to 8.00pm
Talk by Melvyn Malkin at 7.00pm
Dates: Friday 2nd to Sunday 25th March 2007

Melvyn works in both raku and pastel. Colour and form are crucial elements in both media. In the pastel, the colours are intense and luminous. The surface of the clay pieces adds texture and the technique of "raku" firing adds a special sheen to the colouring. The works are both complementary and distinct. Melvyn's landscapes illustrate his love for his home province, Saskatchewan.

The "secret artist" is famous for introducing the colour sensibility of his homeland to the landscapes of Canada and Europe. Here, he tackles the Canadian winter, in all its splendour and glory. if you think that white contains all the colours of the rainbow, wait till you see these paintings.

Come and meet Melvyn and Mystery Man, this Friday evening and Saturday 3rd March (11.00am to 3.00pm).
