I invite you to attend this Friday's opening, "The Science of a Rainbow", glass and multimedia mosaics by Marylee Laing. The reception will be held from 6.00pm to 8.00pm, Friday 3rd February 2006, in the "Upstairs Gallery", Snapdragon, 791 Bank St. Ottawa. Laing, a native of Ottawa, has drawn inspiration from different sources; from childhood memories of the stained glass windows in church, to living in Cairo, Egypt, surrounded by colourful, intricate and ancient mosaic tiles.

Evident in Laing's work is her love of colour and the transparency of coloured glass. Clearly light is also an important aspect, light that shines on, light that shines through and light that is reflected. Marylee Laing will be giving a talk at 7.00pm, I look forward to seeing you this Friday, 3rd February.
